Probably not: Basically if you are seeing a retina surgeon that means you have one of several problems which he or she might be able to improve but do not expect perfect vision after surgery.

Probably not: Without retinal surgery, a patient can lose all vision. Surgery carries risks but is generally better than letting a retinal problem go. The biggest challenge for a retina surgeon is to fix complex retina problems where damage is done by the disease process itself. Diabetes is an example. Rarely, surgical complications can result in worsening vision. This is the exception rather than the rule.
