When taking bite plate off your back teeth does it hurt?

Dr. Meng Syn answered

Don't tip it off: When removing a partial metal denture from back anchoring teeth, it is important to place it and remove it 90 degrees to the teeth. If you are taking the plate off at an angle, it creates torque on the crucial teeth that hold it in.. Often the teeth are weak to begin with. Put your fingers under the clasps and push directly upward or downward with your fingernails to remove.

Night guard: It should not hurt when removing a "bite plate" more commonly called a night guard. Check with your dentist, since the appliance may need to be adjusted.
