Soothe: With cold. There are soothers you can purchase that go in the freezer or you can use a moistened wash rag with ice. Supervise your child at all times when using either method. Let them chew on a TB under supervision as the bristles and the hard end help the teeth break through.

Supportive care: You can use teething rings and damp frozen wash clothes for you child to help with the process of teething. Use the appropriate amount tylenol (acetaminophen) for severe teething discomfort. Avoid using medications that you rub on the gums b/c it only will last for 10 to 15 minutes and will not provide lasting relief.
