A member asked:

I had an endoscopy r/o pud, biopsy came back atrophic gastritis. i am only 26. dr just said "gastritis" and keep taking omeprazole. is this correct?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not so simple: If truly atrophic gastritis, it can be caused by h. Pylori bacteria, these can be hard to find on biopsy, so please ask your doctor. Also atrophic gastritis can lead to vit B12 deficiency, have you been checked for this? There may be other reasons such as acid reflux for which you require omeprazole. However, you should return and clarify these concerns with your doctor.
