They are equivalent.: Both of these work equally well. However, some patients respond well to one and not the other, and sometimes trial and error is the only method to determine which medication is best for a particular patient. The risk of atrophic gastritis, although small, would be essentially equal for each of the medications. I would recommend returning to your gastroenterologist to discuss this. Good luck.
