What could cause a sudden large breast lump? i had a mammogram & sonogram 6 months ago and it was not there. it is approximately 3" accross.

May be: A breast cyst. See your doctor for a repeat examination. A new ultrasound may confirm a cyst, or simple needle aspiration may also resolve it.

Likely a cyst: Cysts can grow quickly. An ultrasound and mammogram will define.
