Cervix: A partial hysterectomy leaves the cervix.

No advantage: A partial leaves the cervix and some claim this helps maintain sexual function. This is not true, 1) there are only pain fibers in the cervix, 2) a french study randomized women b/w the two groups and found no difference. The cervix may bleed and will necessitate more frequent pap smears than if it is removed.
