What color is your gum supposed to be 3 days after a tooth extraction?

Purple: What you are typically seeing is the blood clot that has formed to seal the socket and allow bone to fill in over time with gum tissue growing to cover the site. This may take several months.

Color changes: Initially the gums may be red and somewhat inflammed. As the area heals it may appear to have a whitish film. As healing progresses, the normal color will return.
