A member asked:

Can a person with liver cirrhosis can drink soy milk for protein source?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Soy milk is a good protein source, but the issue with cirrhosis is to limit protein, usually to no more than 40 grams/day. Your doctor should arrange for you to speak to a nutritionist who can give you more information on how much in the way of meat, fish, dairy and soy protein is safe for you. The severity of the cirrhosis and any history of increased ammonia problems will also impact this.
