Hard to say if "mild" fatty liver could progress to cirrhosis that quickly. Probably unlikely. But you clearly should lay off alcohol for the time being, which is especially important if your doctor believe your alcohol intake is the main cause of your fatty liver. Good luck.

It can turn into alcoholic hepatitis and liver failure, with variants that are life threatening, with liver disease alcohol should be out indefinitely.
