Gums: You need to get your gums healthy first so the tissue hyperplasia is not made worse by the braces. Braces require excellent home care. If you are referring to excess bone it should be no problem.

Possible: Depends on how severe the mandibular hyperplasia is. The movement of teeth is limited by the position of the jaw bones. If the hyperplasia is mild then it is possible to align the teeth. If severe then jaw surgery will be required to position the teeth so that they can line up properly.

Severity: If discrepancy is slight teeth may be rearranged to meet in a somewhat compromised, but acceptable, manner. If jaw discrepancy is moderate to severe, jaw repositioning will probably be necessary in order to get the teeth to fit, to improve facial esthetics, and to arrive at a functional stable result. Consult with qualified orthodontic specialist.
