Depends, ask your MD: According to the the national cholesterol education program, your ldl-c goal may be as high as 160mg/dl or as low as 70mg/dl depending on your level of risk. However according to the amercan heart association and ada for many individuals standard cholesterol testing might not be a good enough marker of risk, and it may be worth looking at more specific markers such as your LDL particle or apob.
