Not necessarily: Depends on how many empty calories you used to eat. Had patients who drank 6 cans of soda a day-that's 900 calories/day! just from soda. Cut it out and weight dropped off. Would suggest increasing walking (at least 1/2 h/day, even if split up)-helps maintain muscle mass.
