Scoliosis: There are varying degrees of scoliosis, from mild to severe. Mild may lead to some back pain, usually mild. Severe scoliosis can lead to severe deformity of the back, pressure on the abdominal organs, compression of lungs, difficulty with activities, pain and shortness of breath. If you have scoliosis, check with your doctor to assess the change, follow to see if it progresses, and referral.

Curved spine: Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine that results from a rotation in the vertebral column. It may cause one rib and scapula to be more prominent, and it may cause one shoulder to be higher. Other people notice an asymmetric pelvis. In most cases the resultant deformity is mostly cosmetic (if the scoliosis is idiopathic). Curves greater than about 90 degrees however can compromise lung functio.
