A member asked:

Could a muscle sprain lead to muscle spasms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Charley horse: When the muscle is sprain badly enough the muscle tissue can be torn or damaged enough to result in spasms. Careful management is necessary with attention to avoid more serious damage. There may be rupture of the muscles or tendons or damage to structures of the joints. A thorough medical evaluation would be appropriate.
