Stem Cells and TMJ: The uses for stem cells are advancing rapidly. To my knowledge right now, there is no treatment like you are describing. The state of the art currently is to get the joint as pain-free as possible. Sometimes arthroscopic (scope) procedures can help too. You can save your own stem cells or even better the stem cells of your children through a service called stemsave.

PRP: Prp injections are producing some interesting results in various joints...I agree with dr greenhalgh. These types of therapies are in their infancy and we will see and know more in the near future.

Not yet: Current research doesn't show stem cells used for repair of the disc or condylar repair. Possibly in the future there will be more research in this area.

Not in the USA : Right now that type of treatment is being performed in some european countries but not in the usa due to the stem cell issues in the media.

Not yet: We're not at a point where you can simply inject stem cells and hope that they will magically know what to correct, especially if the cause of the problem isn't addressed first. Most patients w TMJ symptoms have a malocclusion that causes or contributes to TMJ problems. Go see an orthodontist.

Maybe in the future: There is some evidence (http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/23720535) that it may help. But now would be rated as "experimental". I see no harm, but it would at this stage not be covered by insurance.
