Disintegrate: Damaged cartilage disintegrates in diseased joints, not only TMJ but other joints as well. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Get HPV and Covid vaccines. Wish you good health!

Remnants still there: 33 is young to have total disc disintegration, and the ligaments connecting to the muscles are still functioning or you would not be able to eat and move your jaw. You should be seeing a dentist who can manage your treatment and perhaps provide you with a repositioning mouthguard.
