Depends on the : Type of cyst. Cytsts are a normal part of the ovulation process and a ruptured follicle cyst may heal completely without leaving any evidence. A ruptured pathological cyst may be recognizable if the affected tissue is removed and submitted to a pathologist for examination.

Not sure : I am not sure what you are asking, if you mean benign cyst. If they have operated and removed some tissue then yes it will go to pathology; if not then they can only guess at what type it likely was;.
