Does not: Fish oil is meant to reduce fatty acids/triglycerides. Check out these two sites for more information about fish and fish oil. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cholesterol/cl00002http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/993.html.

Minimal, If Any: There are reports of slight ldl-c (i.e. Estimated cholesterol in LDL particles) increases with omega-3 oils in few. However, for 14 years, after prices came way down & accuracy up, I have routinely had clients check measured LDL particle concentrations, always reported in nmol/l & have never seen any clear increases or decreases. See NMR particle test. At >4k epa+dha (not total fish oil) tg lowers.

Varies: Fish oils contain two active omega-3 fatty acids, dha and epa. Most fish oil products are a blend of these two fatty acids. At higher dose (4 grams per day) dha + epa frequently increases LDL cholesterol (the higher the tg, the greater the increase). Recent studies show that purified epa (without dha) decreases LDL cholesterol and LDL particle number at a 4 gram per day dosage.
