It depends: Many people confuse abnormal, thickened or "hypertrophic" scars with "keloids". Your tendency to form keloids can be quickly determined in consultation with a plastic surgeon. There are many topical scar treatments including silicone-based products, vitamin e/aloe products and onion skin extracts (mederma) as well as corticosteroids to minimize and/or treat scars. Pay close attention to any cut.
