It may not be bone.: It could be the attachment of one your muscles to the bone of your hip. Especially if you're having more pain when you're sitting or walking (it's stretching and causing pain in the inflamed area). While it usually takes a good physical exam to figure out what exactly's going on, most muscle strains in this area get better with rest, nsaids, and physical therapy.
