A member asked:

Is a fever of 103 degrees in a child under 2 years old dangerous?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Depends on what is causing the fever. If the kid has had his shots & gained protection against most of the nasty diseases of childhood, it is likely a simple illness, often viral. Their brain isn't damaged by simple fever. If the kid is able to keep up with fluid needs & remain playful at times this can often be managed at home. If the kid looks bad, won't drink or scares you, have it evaluated.
