What is the recovery timeline for breast reduction?

About a week: Breast reduction is done to relieve the symptoms caused by heavy breasts such as neck and back pain. There is usually not a significant amount of discomfor from the surgery and recovery is failry quick. Everyone heals at a diferent rate however so discuss with your plastic surgeon.

Depends on kind: Various techniques involve different incision patterns and overall impact on the tissue. A few days of recovery and approximately one month of lifting restrictions is fairly common.

Recovery-BR: Discomfort, swelling and discoloration of the breasts are expected for several weeks. Usually, our patients return to most normal activity within two weeks. The scars at the incision lines typically become reddish, raised and firm a few weeks after surgery, but during the first several months they become pale and soft.

1 to 2 weeks: Patients should plan to take off 1 or 2 weeks off work (depending on surgical specifics). Exercise can usually resume after 4 weeks, but you will receive specific instructions following your surgery. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options and your recovery details.

Recovery timeline: Breast reduction recovery may take some time. You may be advised to take a week off from work or school following the surgery. However, this varies from patient to patient. Patients are also advised to give the utmost care to the breasts for the next 4-6 weeks after the surgery to prevent complications & to give enough time for healing.
