Need more info: How long ago? Was is diagnosed by physician? How was it treated. What is being done now? Where on ankle? Have you discussed this with your doctor or seen a specialist?

Acute vs chronic: If the chipped bone continues to hurt after three months from injury it will probably require open removal if it still hurts. If its in the ankle joint you may benefit from a scope.
