Pregnancy sleep help: The fda rates safety of drugs in pregnancy from category a (controlled studies showing no fetal risk) to x (proven risks to fetus outweigh maternal benefit). Ambien is category b: presumed safe, based on animal studies; no well-controlled human studies available. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is another "class b." best plan is improved sleep hygiene, though: http://www.Umm.Edu/sleep/sleep_hyg.Htm.

Sleep hygiene: I recommend using excellent sleep hygiene and hopefully you will be able to avoid use of ambien.
