Let's consider: There are several possibilities : you have gotten used to it, your difficulty has increased; however, my concern is to treat why you should need sleep meds. Please get a full evaluation from an excellent psychiatrist.

Insomnia: Ambien (zolpidem) is prescribed for insomnia. If you don't like how Ambien (zolpidem) works for you, you may ask your doctor to try other sleeping aids. I would advise you to try sleep hygiene ( you may look it up) instead of rely on meds. Daily exersize, cool and comfy bed, as well as " prepare" yourself for sleep ( preferrably at the same time) would help you to get sleep without meds. Never give up...
