Yes!: Although few people your age need a facelift. Today's facial cosmetic procedures are safe and predictable when performed by well trained doctors. You are likely a better candidate for volumizers (sculptra or fat), filllers, or treatments like ultherapy. Seek consultation with a qualified facial plastic surgeon for best results and customized recommendations.

At 33, why?: I would first ask why you would consider a facelift at 33 years of age. If you are asking for an older person, a facelift is a very safe procedure when performed by an experienced surgeon in a healthy candidate with realistic goals. However, there are other less agressive interventions such as fillers, that may be first employed with considerably lower risks and downtime.

Define safe: Facelift surgery if done correctly, by a trained surgeon can be quite safe. However, many factors play a role in safety. The patients health, the facility, surgeons training, etc. All affect the safety of a procedure. And even then, there are always risks with any surgical procedure.

Safe, but at 34?: Plastic surgery, or facelift, can be performed safely by properly trained, plastic surgeon in an accredited surgical facility. However, at age 34, a noninvasive procedure such as ultherapy may be an option. Patients who have severe excess skin at a young age (such as after massive weight loss) may be candidates for facelift.

Yes generally: A facelift is a safe procedure when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon. Risks include bleeding/ hematoma, infection, nerve injury, scarring, asymmetry, wound healing problems, and need for revision operation. Discuss your individual risks with your plastic surgeon.

Facelift: a facelift is a safe procedure in experienced hands. Your best bet would be to have your face evaluated by a board certified facial plastic surgeon.
