Dust mite avoidance: There are covers one can buy, dust mite covers, for pillow, mattress, and box spring. Use hepa filters on vacuum cleaners. Wet dust don't dry dust.

Filters and masks: Specially designed air purifiers with graded hepa filters will help minimize airborne particles that will precipitate allergies. In enviroments where this is not possible wearing a mask is another option.
