NO: Ultrasound is not how cancer is diagnosed. Gallbladder polyps is a risk factor for cancer and is an indication for cholecystectomy especially if symtomatic. See a surgeon for an opinion. Standard of care for cancer diagnosis is tissue based.

Not commonly: A gallbladder ultrasound that reads a thickened wall is more commonly associated with cholecystitis - inflammation of the gallbladder. The wall of the gallbladder thickens as it gets inflamed. Gallbladder polyps are usually stones that are forming in the wall of the gallbladder. See your surgeon for further evaluation and treatment.
