Heel pain: Have it diagnosed as to whether or not it is plantar fasciitis, achilles tendinitis, inferior calcaneal bursitis, stress fracture or some other inflammatory problem so that it can be treated accordingly. X-rays and MRI or sonogram can help with the diagnosis.

RICE: Rest, ice, compression, elevation. I would also take Aleve (naproxen) if no allergy. If continues see a podiatrist.

Depends: What part of the heel is sore? Any open skin?Or is it the bottom of the heel? Pain upon first getting out of bed = plantar fascitiis, if on the back of the heel can be achilles tendonitis or haglunds deformity. More info is needed to properly arrive at a diagnosis.
