Fibromyalgia: It is a real illness diagnosed after meeting criteria for multiple symptomatology and having ruled out other physical illnesses leading to symptoms. Like many chronic illnesses, proper treatment can ease discomfort and improve quality of life. Your primary care doctor can discuss tx options depending on your presenting symptoms.

Soft tissue disorder: British rheumatologists have noted that many persons with #fibromyalgia have an associated marker for joint hypemobility syndrome (see my comments below). In those who satisfy the brighton criteria, gentle exercise to increase general muscle tone and strength is advised. Aqua-therapy is often beneficial. The causes of fibromyalgia are multiple so that several concurrent lifestyle changes help.
