A member asked:

Within the last year i have developed irritable bowl, carcinoid tumor and fibromyalgia. is there a reason all these things are happening at the same ?

No.: Lots of other things ( good physical things) probably happened to you as well but were not reported here. This is at least partly a perceptual bias. These diseases are unrelated and occur as they will. However they are all also diseases of midlife and so by random chance may "cluster" by "accident" at your age.

Perhaps: Carcinoid tumors of the small bowel can cause crumpling. If metastatic to the liver, they can cause a "carcinoid syndrome" with diarrhea, flushing, palpitations- some of which overlap symptoms of irritable bowel. I don't understand fibromyalgia.

Nature and Nuture: Your ibs, fibro, carcinoid all developed at the same time because these conditions are a multifactorial consequence of hormonal, immune system and nervous system dysfunction resulting from genetic predispositions and dietary and environmental insults.
