Doctor can re-check: Young children can have swollen lymph nodes for months, especially if they catch a cold or a strep throat every couple of months. It is important to see the same doctor, so that the same person is examining the child's neck. He can compare his exams from different visits, and can also swab the throat for strep at follow-up visits. There are few rare, bad diseases that also cause persistent nodes.
