Brush, floss, dentist!: I always say minimizing chances of cavities is preventative which consists of brushing, flossing, and routine dental check-ups. Is there always chances of getting cavities, yes, but this minimizes chances and if you do have routine check-ups at your dentists, then they can catch cavities early where they are small and also minimizes costs.
