Sugar: Excess sugar left on teeth allows bacteria to settle in and create cavities. That's why we need to brush. Usually sticky, very chewing foods can get stuck on our teeth.

Almost all: Ultimately all foods can be harmful to your teeth, but of course some are more than others. Those with high sugar or salt content, those that are sticky or chewy, and those with high acid content are the most harmful.

Think Carbs: Of the main food types;carbohydrates, fats, protein; it is the carbs that provide the biggest problem. The primary carb offender is the sugars that are readily used for food by the bacteria that live in the spaces around your teeth. As germs use the sugars they break down to an acid that begins to dissolve the enamel. As it dissolves the cavity is formed.

White foods: Starches/sugars (white food) are converted by bacteria into acid which dissolves away tooth enamel. So watch your sugar/starch intake. Additionally acidic foods weaken tooth enamel. Ask your dentist for specific advice.
