Sounds normal: Pain early after inguinal hernia surgery can feel severe for some men. Use the pain medication as prescribed. Follow your surgeon's instructions or call them if there are problems or questions.

Not unexpected: I experienced the same discomfort when i underwent a hernia repair. The burning may be from nerve endings that have been traumatized and will probably take several months for the discomfort to resolve.
