Asthma: Sounds like your son has moderate to severe case of asthma. Recognizing and treating co- morbid conditions, like allergies ( could be environmental and/ or food), gastritis or gastric reflux etc. ---- will help have better control of his asthma.

Avoid exposures: You need to take a detailed history on what triggers his asthma and avoid these exposures. May be very common things like pets at home, carpeting, drapes, molds, smoke etc. Or something at school. Talk to your doctor. If not, depending on his age, there are various other medications that may be used to avoid steroids.

No rescue inhaler?: Do you have an action plan? Have you had pft's done assuming he is old enough? You also do not mention what his rescue inhaler is. Advair and singular do not help acute events, nor does nasonex (mometasone). Frequent use of steroids indicate poorly controlled asthma. I suggest you consult with a pulmonologist and / or an allergist.

Complicated: Yourcsins history seems too comicated for this forum by best advice is to see an experienced allergist as well as an ENT and get a good evaluation from both. Has he tried nasal anti-histamines? (patanase or astelin).

Immunotherapy: Work with a board-certified allergist. If your son is at least 12 years of age xolair could be a very effective intervention. If over 5 years of age allergen immunotherapy could be very useful. I have some patients on both therapies simultaneously with very satisfactory results. Don't be discouraged.
