Non-toxic but...: While every medication has benefits and side effects, the benefits of advair (combination inhaler) and singulair (montelukast) (leukotriene tablet) outweigh the risks when treating serious conditions such as asthma. Long term studies have shown a small affect on rate of growth in pediatric patients for medications containing steroids (advair) but not singulair (montelukast). An allergist can review these issues in detail.
