Possible: Chronic gastritis due to helicobacter infection is related to stomach cancer, especially lymphoma. Ulcers with chronic inflammation may cause scarring and depending on the location may lead to obstruction. Gastritis due to alcohol use may predispose to usual carcinoma of the stomach.

Depends on the cause: Chronic gastritis has many causes including the use of certain drugs(nsaids), h pylori infection, chronic stress , atrophic gstritis etc... The treatment and possible outcomes are dependent on the cause. This should be discussed with your GI doctor further.
