Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) : The fact that Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) is extended release, does not mean that it is extended excretion. The medication clears the system at the same rate that an acute release preparation would. The half-life is about 12 hours. 5 1/2 lives to clear. Essentially gone in 60 hours, figure 3 days to be safe.

About 55 hours: This is based on the rule that it generally takes 4 to 5 half lives for a medication to leave your body. However, other effects based on changes in the way neurons communicate with each other may take longer.
