No equivalent dose: Mirtazipine and amitripyline have different mechanisms of action. How a particular person reacts to one may be totally different than how that person may react to the other. If you are changing these medications it should be under a doctor's supervision. In general, it is best to start low and increase slowly to reach the desired therapeutic response.

Caution: These two medications are in different drug classes and are not similar. Therefore there is no "equivalent dose." Before you adjust your medication please discuss this with your prescribing physician. Also, you need to be alert to possible adverse drug interactions when you add a new drug to your existing medication.
