Talk w/your doctor: I'm assuming a physician (a psychiatrist?) prescribed your Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) for a particular reason, and i hope you have been followed for this regularly. You want to be sure that your initial symptoms are long gone before changing anything about your medication. I'd suggest discussing your wishes to stop your medicine with your doctor, and developing a workable plan. Please don't do this alone.

Tapering Pristiq (desvenlafaxine): First you should make sure to discuss stopping your medication with your physician, as a return of symptoms is quite possible. You should only follow the tapering schedule recommended by that physician. I would tell my patient that many can stop 50 mg of Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) without difficulty. If concerned my patient would use a pill cutter to halve the tablet for 1 week, then take 1/4 for one week and stop.
