Panic: Breathing exercises, distraction, flooding, exposure with response prevention, imagery, meditation, medications as necessary. All these techniques can be further explained by a therapist during cognitive behavior work. Remember, panic attacks pass, & they do not cause permanent damage.

Meds and CBT: There are several well researched therapies that have shown effectiveness treating panic disorder. Most researched are variants of cognitive behavioral therapy but there several others. Look at aada website.

Talk to yourself: Imagine that you have to calm someone else and then try to talk yourself down the same way. Tell yourself that this is just a panic attack, that's all, it will pass. Let it come and let it go, it is only a panic attack, that's all, it will not hurt you. Keep talking yourself down, try to deep-breathe thru it. Keep going--you'll get there!
