Computer coding: The computer in the echo machine is programmed to color code the signal. Blue is coded for blood moving towards the transducer. Red is moving away. Stippled and green indicate turbulence and high velocity. Red on an echo can be perfectly normal and will be interpreted by the cardiologist reading the study. Remember red doesn't mean that something is actually "red"!
