A member asked:

50% collapse with sniff suggestive of ra pressure of 3 mmhg. what does this mean for a heart echo?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The quick sniff causes some blood emptying from the inferior vena cava, a large vein that delivers blood to the right atrium. A collapse under 50% is consistent with increased right atrial pressure seen with intrathoracic abnormalities like pericardial effusion or constriction. Your RA pressure was normal. We're they looking for pericardial problems in your case?
