Pain management: You will not find an orthopedic doctor willing to manage an opiate medication for you. You will need to find a pain management specialist who will determine if you are a candidate for chronic opiate medications and will manage those for you if indicated.

Pain specialist: If your pain is now chronic you may want to consider a pain management specialist. They approach pain in a multidisciplinary manner including medications, physical therapy, exercise, etc. Don't let the chronic pain go too long before you see someone.
