Because: Ldl is high despite a excellent hdl. Depending on your overall cardiac risk LDL should be less than 120 or lower.

Must maintain goal: The longer high LDL levels exist, the more damage occurs in the artery wall. Strategies that focus on diet, exercise, and soluble fiber can positively impact LDL levels. Despite this statins may be needed. It is important to maintain goal LDL levels (ldl-c < 100 if high risk, otherwise < 130). Ldl particle number (ldl-p) should be checked once at ldl-c goal to judge adequacy of therapy.
