Hmmmm....: Insist is a pretty strong word; there is no such thing as cosmetic surgery that is urgently needed. Having said that, 19 is not too young for breast augmentation. Please see a surgeon certified by the american board of plastic surgery to explore your options now and in the future. Good luck!

Why: Maybe the real question is why you think you desperately need them. Or why you are so unhappy with your body. I encourage you to talk to your parents, or a counsellor, candidly about your feelings and expectations. You are very young and your body has not finished doing what it needs to do. Maybe give it time. Remember that no amount of cosmetic surgery will change your perception of you.

Need? Insist?: An informed woman over the age of 18 can request elective breast augmentation, but if you are the patient, from whom would you "insist" you get them. All you have to do is see an abps-certified plastic surgeon or two and get information about which to make a choice. You pay your surgeon, not someone else. You may request money for your birthday from whomever is willing to be told what to give you!

Not a need: Breast implants are never a need. They are a want and should go with a certain level of social and emotional maturity. They cost money. The surgery has risks you need to be well aware and accepting of and there are ongoing maintanence costs associated with having them. Unless you have breast cancer insurance doesn't cover their placement or replacement.

Are you serious?: Breast implants are it a need even in the event of breast cancer. They are an elective surgical option that carries risks, serious ones, that should be fully understood. You need to know the potential complications and outcomes and alternatives. Yu should insist that your surgeon discuss these with you. This is a lifelong undertaking and should not be decided on a whim as a birthday gift you can return.

Aug age: While you may have saline implants at 19, you must be 22 for silicone implants. How do you know that you "need" breast implants? I hope that you have undergone consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon, and that you are clear on your motivation and expectations.

Needing Surgery: Breast augmentation is usually an elective operation which by definition does not denote necessity. It is important to see a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss options and to see if you are a candidate.

No...: Success in breast augmentation is achieved with the right implants, by the right surgeon, and for the right patient. If any of those variables are not optimal then neither will be the result. If you feel that you would benefit from breast implants at age 19 and that you are doing it for the right reason, then i encourage you to move forward. If not, then i would encourage you to wait.

Elective Surgery: Breast augmentation surgery is elective and carries risks that must be weighed with the benefits. Nobody truly "needs" the procedure, but it makes many women very happy. Seek consultation with a plastic surgeon for more information.
