What's a metastatic adenopathy of the left neck?

Malignant: Usually refers to cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes. For example, cancers of the head and neck (tonsil, larynx, mouth, sinus) can have involvement of nodes in the neck. If they do this typically suggest local spread and may require additional therapy, such as chemotherapy and radiation. Hope this helps. Other cancers can spread to the neck as well.

Ask your doctor: Sara, adenopathy means swollen gland, but metastatic almost always means that something has come from a cancer. If this is your diagnosis and your doctor has not explained to you where it came from, you really must see him or her and ask the question directly.
