A member asked:

Are tooth implants suitable for people who has lost almost all their teeth? (the remaining teeth are decayed and loose)

Yes: Tooth implants are excellent. They are stable and will last a long time. That being said, replacing all of your teeth with implants will take some time and money. Please seek the services of a dentist and an oral surgeon who have vast experience in implantology.

Implant: Have a dentist that deals with implants evaluate this. He will review your medical history and take radiographs to evaluate the bone. In most cases implants can be placed with 95 percent success. They really are a wonderful thing compared to removable dentures.

Absolutely: Dental implants can be sued in a variety of ways. They can used to replace anywhere from one to all the teeth either jaw. You would need a consultation with your dentist to see if there is enough bone to place the implant. As well as a complete plan for how the implant is to be used.

Can be very suitable: In this type of situation, we often remove all the remaining teeth in the arch (top or bottom jaw) and rebuild fixed teeth attached to implants. The impants do not decay, and that can make all the difference in success for patients who have a history of serious decay. The "all-on-four" technique works well in many of these situations.

Yes: If they were lost from decay and you still have plenty of bone. An implant can not decay. It still has to be brushed and flossed well. If you want to have many options talk with a dentist who can help you decide if you want something fixed or removable, and if you want plastic or porcelain teeth.

Yes: Missing teeth are the indication for dental implants, as long as there is enough bone remaining.

Absolutely: If you will be loosing all your teeth, an implant supported denture may be the best thing for you. A combination of single implant crowns and bridges may be another option but this will be very expensive. I am sorry to hear you are loosing your teeth at such a young age. One thing with implants is that they can fail due to periodontal disease if you are unable to keep up decent hygiene.

Sometimes.: Dental implants are a wonderful service for many people. However, if you choose to neglect your teeth and will not be committed to taking care of the dental implants and the restorations, they will fail also. In this case, you will have spent money for nothing. You need to be willing and ready to commit yourself to your dental health. If you are, then implants may be a tremendous benefit.
